ld Main-situated on
Norlin Quadrangle at the University of Colorado-was the university's first building, occupying what was then a treeless,
muddy hill. Today it houses the CU Heritage Center, a treasure trove of university artifacts and photographs that includes
the stories of many diverse women. These women include the university's first woman professor,
Mary Rippon;
Ruth Cave Flowers, a prominent African American educator and CU graduate;
women's athletic teams; and contemporary women astronauts
from CU.
Other sites on campus reveal yet more stories. Among them are the CU Museum of Natural History, which holds
the research collections of archaeologist Anna Shepard, and the
Sibell Wolle Fine Arts Building, which is home to the CU Art Galleries and is named for artist and Fine Arts professor
Muriel Sibell Wolle.
