arolyn Holmberg's remarkable environmental legacy has shaped Boulder County's landscape for generations to come. While a volunteer on the Advisory Committee of Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) in the 1980s, Holmberg advocated for the preservation of Rock Creek Farm. The site was rededicated in her name in 2000. As director of BCPOS for 15 years, Holmberg went on to oversee the county's acquisition of 40,000 acres of open space, including ranchland, wetlands, and mountain forests. A seemingly tireless activist even in her free time, Holmberg was also involved in organizations such as the League of Women Voters and the YWCA. Her colleagues remember her as a woman of humor, dedication, and fairness.
