Henry 'Woody' & Leslie Eaton
Woody Eaton arrived in Boulder in 1955 at the age of 16. After graduating from Boulder High, he enrolled in the National Guard and the University of Colorado, where his mother worked in the CU English Department. He graduated from CU and headed to dental school in San Francisco.
Woody is a pilot, sails the Caribbean, cross-country skis, backpacks, bicycles and world traveler. His love of Boulder, the land the people and the university, are well known to friends and business acquaintances. LIVE BOULDER! SHOP BOULDER! LOVE BOULDER! is Woody's motto. Woody's avocation, real estate, became his vocation and he became a full-time real estate investor and developer after retiring from dentistry.
Leaving her home in Utah, Leslie arrived in Boulder in 1959 to attend CU. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts and landed a job in San Francisco where she and Woody met, married and decided to move back to Boulder where Woody established his dental practice. Leslie skis, bikes, hikes, sails, plays tennis, reads, travels and loves to cook, yet still finds time for numerous volunteer projects and jobs in the community.
In addition to their many business accomplishments over the years, Woody and/or Leslie have been leaders in having fluoride introduced into the Boulder water supply; established a scholarship program at Boulder High for students hoping to attend CU; and established a park in Gunbarrel in memory of Woody's brother and several business associates, plus a memorial area at the Denver Botanic Gardens in memory of Woody's brother, John.
They have also m ade generous donations to establish the Eaton Humanities building at CU; provided generous support to, and serve on the board of, The Center of the American West. Woody co-found the Buffalo Bicycle Classic in 2003, which has awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships for CU's College of Arts and Sciences.
Leslie is a member of the University of Colorado 's Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the Board of the CU Foundation. She has also served on many volunteer positions at Boulder Community Hospital, the BCH Board of Directors, and as president of the Boulder Community Hospital Auxiliary.
The Eatons have three married sons, Matthew and his wife Mayumi Yagi and grandson Max; Mitchell and his wife Ellen; and Jordan and his wife Erin.
